Interview with Anushka Contractor : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Anushka Contractor : I was asked to create a good looking tough table for a showroom. Against the idea of going typical with a solid looking base forced me to think in the opposite direction. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. Anushka Contractor : Being a table which could hold more than 200kgs of weight, I wanted to create something which would make everyone underestimate the strength it could hold. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Anushka Contractor : I would present my design in furniture showrooms. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. Anushka Contractor : It took me 2 weeks to design. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. Anushka Contractor : As mentioned in point no. 01, I was asked to create a good looking tough table for a showroom. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Anushka Contractor : My design is already created and displayed in the furniture showroom which was asked. .Frank Scott: What made you design this particular type of work?. Anushka Contractor : A requirement from my client to create a good looking tough table. .Frank Scott: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?. Anushka Contractor : Only my worker helped me build it explaining the pros and cons of this design. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Anushka Contractor : Anyone. As this design can be used for many types of tables. .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. Anushka Contractor : A thin, sleek look with the soft outline for a huge size mentioned. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. Anushka Contractor : Contractor is my last name - Close friends call me 'Conti'. If you see the design of the table base from the bottom, it is cross-legged. So thats how the name of this design combines to make - Conticross. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. Anushka Contractor : I used 3D Rhinoceros for modelling and autocad for detailing it. .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. Anushka Contractor : The cross-legged thin, sleek base. .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?. Anushka Contractor : None. .Frank Scott: What is the role of technology in this particular design?. Anushka Contractor : 3D for modelling. .Frank Scott: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?. Anushka Contractor : Not really. There was an existing table base with the client. I had to get rid of that style and create something totally different but using the same material they had. .Frank Scott: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?. Anushka Contractor : I wanted to avoid any kind of bridge support between the Metal sections but it required one at the center to hold all the weight. .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. Anushka Contractor : I was searching for a competition online which matched the category with my design. .Frank Scott: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?. Anushka Contractor : I learnt the balance technique. .Frank Scott: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?. Anushka Contractor : Yes. This particular designed table can be used as work table, dining table, size table, stool, stand, pedestal, etc. .
